Cable crazy

So I usually avoid cables, I knit for relaxation and adding a third needle that's only used for X amount of stitches, holding them in front or in back, blah blah blah... not relaxing.

But the holidays are coming and I've set aside the cable rule to make a pretty cool looking scarf. I just sort of made it up during a few quiet minutes at work. I'm calling it Casey's Cabled 'Carf

Here's the pattern:

Lion Brand WoolEase
Size 8 needles
Cable Needle

CO 28
Row 1: K2, P2, K2, P4, K8, P4, K2, P2, K2

Row 2: P2, K2, P2, K4, P8, K4, P2, K2, P2

Row 3: K2, P2, K2, P4, K8, P4, K2, P2, K2

Row 4: P2, K2, P2, K4, P8, K4, P2, K2, P2

Row 5: K2, P2, K2, P4, C8B, P4, K2, P2, K2

Row 6: P2, K2, P2, K4, P8, K4, P2, K2, P2

Row 7: K2, P2, K2, P4, K8, P4, K2, P2, K2

Row 8: P2, K2, P2, K4, P8, K4, P2, K2, P2

Row 9: K2, P2, K2, P4, K8, P4, K2, P2, K2

Row 10: P2, K2, P2, K4, P8, K4, P2, K2, P2

Repeat these 10 rows for the pattern. I'll post more pictures as I continue. The length that you saw today was done during my lunch break at work, so it knits up pretty fast.

On a different subject, I got an early birthday present the other day!

An absolutely beautiful new knitting bag.

With beautiful, Celtic style beads hanging from the front pocket.
And oodles of pockets and room inside for all my knitting bits and bobbs. I was stunned when I opened it up. It's, as I told the gifter, a bag so me that any closer and it's be made of my own skin.

Believe me, the pictures can't possibly do it justice. But it's become my constant companion and so far everyone who has seen it has wanted one of their own.

thanks for the cable scarf pattern! I've never done cables and this is a great way to get started.
