Reflections on No TV November

No TV November is over. I thought, when I first started it, that once it was over I’d be all but glued to the television, but it’s rather the opposite.

Breaking myself of the habit of having to have the television on has left me rather uninterested in watching it at all. Admittedly there were/are a few movies that I’m planning on watching, (why did I have such an uncontrollable urge to watch Chicken Run?) television shows in general are not stirring any interest in me at all.

I guess it was just a matter of breaking the habit. Now I just have to figure out how to fix the Pepsi slips I’ve been having of late. I gave it up so easily and now it’s one here, one there, practically every day. (Guess that means I didn’t give it up so easily, huh?)

In crafting news:

My holiday knitting is nearly done. It’ll get done a lot faster if I actually… ya know, work on it. It’s very toned down this year though. Just:

A cabled hooded scarf (I’m loving this pattern and already bought yarn to make myself one):

A plain 2x2 rib scarf (It’s for my sister and she loses scarves and hats like crazy so 2x2 rib is about as fancy as I’ll get for her) the matching hat is soon to be CO

Another cabled scarf, from the SnB book (Sorry no picture)

Lots of little trees and wreaths. The wreaths are my own design. I’ll post a pattern as soon as I have a chance. (No picture of the wreath, I don't have one finished yet)

Knit ornaments. Various designs, some mine, some from the net.

A Santa hat (OK, this is for me.) (It's still just yarn, no picture yet)

Very cute stuff!!

It's good to know that you feel OK after giving up TV! I still maintain that I couldn't do it but hey, I'm OK with that!!

Hmmm Chicken run? I dunno was it the urge to see claymation chickens knit?

My youngest daughter does the same thing with hats and scarves .... they just seem to disappear. Thought she'd grow out of it but 18 yrs later they still disappear. Love to color on the one you're making for your sister.

Wow! You've been busy. I understand about breaking the TV habit! When pao stopped watching TV because of his eye thing, it was a treat to watch an episode of Bleak House every day during the recovery period rather than having it on whenever we felt like it.

I canceled my cable subscription about 4 years ago and haven't looked back, that's saying something with a 10 year old in the house. We subscribe to Netflix and enjoy computer games, but TV? Nope, not for us.

Love the Trees, where did you get the pattern?
