The Death of Chivalry

It’s so secret that chivalry is all but gone. And any mention to this fact will make most guys go “Well you wanted equal rights so deal with it.” But chivalry has nothing to do with equal rights. Chivalry is being decent to people, doing what’s polite and kind. It’s something men and women should practice.

I asked a guy I work with to grab a box of paper for me, since it’s heavy and I have a bad back. He whined and moaned for a few minutes before bringing up a ream of paper. Yup, just one ream instead of the box. I could have done that. He said “This way the box will be lighter for you.” Then he asked if I’d typed up something for him. I told him I’d type of the first page, that way the rest of the typing would be easier for him.

But that’s nothing compared to what happened a few years ago.

I was in college and it was a rainy, wet, all around nasty day. I was heading upstairs to psychology and a guy was heading downstairs towards me. The stairs were wet and he slipped.

Ignoring the railings on either side of him, he grabbed me and used me as a cushion to soften his fall. I fell backwards down half a flight of stairs and had 150 pounds of guy-weight land on top of me.

Rising to his feet, Prince unCharming then gave me a dirty look, I guess I wasn’t as soft as he’d hoped, and walked off while I lay on the wet, dirty floor with the wind knocked out of me.

Chivalry is dead… and it just keeps getting deader.

I hope you killed him with a deadly stare.

That's not just lacking chivalry, that's lacking basic human decency.....unbelievable....

Sounds like your coworker lacks basic manners. I use to have a boss that I'm sure was raised by wolves in the wild because he was clueless about how to act properly around people.

I would have grabbed Prince Uncharming by his pants and made him fall again.

OMG... that sucks. I'm sending bad vibes to Prince Charming. He sounds like a guy I used to work with. LOL..
