Imaginary

I'm starting to wonder if D exists only in my imagination.

Today we went to lunch, went shopping and on the way back to my apartment we were discussing our plots to run away. He wants to go somewhere tropical. My latest idea is to go to Wyoming.

"Why in the world did you pick Wyoming?"

"Cause... I could have a farm. With horses. And sheep! And alpacas!!"

"And you would make yarn from them?"

"Yes, I would."

"Hmm... this could work. We could get a farm, get some sheep and alpacas-"

"And a goat or two. Just cause."

"Ok, and a goat or two. And we could set up a yarn farm. I'll bet we'd do pretty well."

"Yeah. You could shear the sheep and wash the shit out of the wool and I could do all the fun stuff with it, spinning and dying and knitting it. This is a good plan. I like this plan! Way better than running away to become hermits in Tanzania."

This is why I love him. He lets me have these idiotic little fantasies and doesn't squish my happy dreams. That and he called me earlier to tell me that he'd bought me this:
It's a CD player made to look like the Dead Man's Chest from the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie. The heart glows when you play music.

How many different types of awesome is that?

The First Christmas

Thank you, everyone who showered my Black Knight with praise.

Christmas with D and his family was great. I had an absolutely wonderful time.

And here he is. The first blog photos of D. Isn't he adorable?

Here he is, about to open up the black knight. I was FREAKING out. I kept worrying that he wasn't going to like it, that I had serious denial and that it was ugly, that evil gnomes had unraveled it all inside the bag. I got so teased by his dad for the Christmas themed garbage bag that the doll was wrapped in.
There was no reason for me to be so worried though. He loved it. Probably the moment that made all the work worthwhile was when I told him "Pick a limb." and he got all wide eyed and yelled out "Oh no WAY!" before jerking the arm off. It was great. Through the course of the night we kept attacking each other with limbs. Well, really I kept attacking and then he'd retaliate in defense.
Hehe, there was a Star Trek comic book in the box with this. I tease him that he's a closet Trekki because he has 3 of the movies. It drives him bonkers.

After presents we all hung out, played Scene It (girls vs boys, boys won by a fluke) and then, to my delight and D's absolute horror, his parents pulled out the family videos. I have SOOOO much ammo now.

It's FINISHED!!!

I've been working on this practically non-stop for the past week. D and I are exchanging gifts tomorrow, er today, so it HAD to be finished. I've been knitting since 10 this morning. So tired... hands so sore...

Bloggish Potpurri

We are officially in the Week Before Finals. (Imagine the ominous music, streak of lightening across the stormy sky, ect.) Strangely, I am fairly stress free. I only have one big final and 3 small ones, all my big papers were due before Thanksgiving break and of the 4 finals coming up, only one of them will require dedicated studying.

Coming up, the 15th my mom and I are both meeting up halfway so that I can take Kari for a week. I figure that will give my parents a little alone time and it'll also give them a chance to get gift stuff all finished without having the kid hovering around, trying to sneak peeks.

D and I are in a friendly battle right now. He is a big Christmas nut. Apparently he's been counting down the minutes until Dec 1st so he could start playing holiday music. I, on the other hand, lean more towards the Grinch-ish attitude towards the holidays. I grumble and glare, make faces when I hear holiday music, but by the time the day actually gets here my heart's grown 3 sizes and I'm all eager to carve the roast beast. But my grinchiness is a good thing. Don't believe me?

Yeah, that'd be all my presents. Bought and wrapped.

I'm still working on a few knitting projects, including this guy:I should explain that D... is a nerd. And I love it. Because I'm a dork, so we're the perfect couple. And within the first few times talking he'd mentioned Monty Python oh... about 20 times. So I got it into my head to knit him the Black Knight, complete with detachable arms and legs. I'm making up the pattern as I go along and, while I know this is tempting the knitting gods to curse me, it's going so well that it's SCARY. I'm very excited and I can't wait to finish it just to see his reaction.

Inspired by my success making up one pattern, I decided to make up another:Ok, it's not that impressive really. Just the loose lattice lace stitch framed with seed stitch with some beads thrown in, but it's turning out nicely. I don't know who it's for or even if it'll be finished for the holidays, but it's nice to be working on something that isn't stockinette or garter stitch.

And here is my lovely $1 tree from Walmart:It actually ended up costing around $5, when you add lights and ornaments.

So how've you been?

I Feel So Loved!!

I haven’t been feeling as ‘up’ as I usually am, between school stress and being sick for so long. But when I got home yesterday there was a little box of cheerfulness waiting for me outside the house!

MrsPao sent me a lovely little package:

Flying Saucers – Wafer type candies filled with those round sprinkles you put on cupcakes. These used to be one of my FAVORITE candies when I was a kid.

A chocolate, orange and truffle chocolate bar. Frankly it’s lucky it made it into the photo shoot.

A bag of fruit sherbets.

Two adorable beaded trinket boxes. (I love boxes. All shapes and colors and sizes.)

An adorable embroidered little sewing needle holder. Did you make her yourself?

A bracelet that is not pictured cause it was on my wrist at the time.

3 balls of Debbie Bliss Cotton/Angora that is soooooo soft.

And an awesome container of chocolates shaped like spiders, maggots and worms.

Not to mention the adorable card that came with it.

Thanks MrsPao!

The Hufflepuff sock for my swap pal is coming along nicely. I hope to have the second one cast on by Monday.

I spent a good amount of my knitting time over the past two weeks working on a corner to corner baby blanket for a woman at my Dad’s work who is due any day now. The shower was this past Monday and I just finished in time. Here’s the blanket in all of it’s gender neutral yellow glory:

As I worked mainly on it during intermission at hockey games, it seemed only fitting that Skates model it. Here’s hoping the baby who will be using it is cuter and a bit less hairy.

Everyone seemed to dismayed by my utter lack of shoes. It’s true though, I only own 3 pairs…
I need new Work shoes. They’re getting kinda ratty.

Post-Christmas Knitting Slump

I finished everything that I needed to knit for the holidays and now… now I’m in a slump. I’ve been knitting with pressing deadlines for so long that I’ve kinda forgotten what’s it’s like to have leisurely knitting to do.

I think it’s mostly due to the sudden overwhelming amount of inspiration.

Here’s a review of what Santa and other’s brought me:

I’m so loved.

I did knit something last night, but it turned out wrong so I have to start all over again. I don’t know how I managed to convince myself that it was ok long enough to embroider and stuff the damned thing. Very disappointing, makes me sad.

In other news, I have the personality of a tiger shark today.

(BTW, my comments are acting up and they’re not letting me e-mail anyone so if I don’t respond to your comment it’s not because I don’t love you anymore. It’s because blogger doesn’t love me.)
