RJ's birthday is this Sunday and I wanted to get him something cool, something that he could use at the faire. He dresses up like a pirate, so I had a fairly good idea of what to make him.
I started with this plain wooden chest. A few hours of work later and I had...
A pirate treasure chest full of booty. The coins are wooden disks that I painted with silver and gold metallic paint. The jewels are just plastic beads that I got at the craft store.
Hopefully I'll type up a few pages of pirate-esque writing to add to the chest. What do you think? A log of ships robbed, a treasure map, of course, and a few pages of the Captain's log. Sound good?

Well done, mate...
(Wow, that was quite...British, wasn't it?)
;)
The treasure chest looks great, hun, I think he'll love it!
LYL,

Excellent! Colorful and glittery and oh-so-piratey.
A while ago, Domestic Overlord made a pirate chest-shaped birthday cake for her son. It was so cool!
Arrr me hearties! A cutlass and eye patch?
Great chest!
Aargh! I think that is a mighty fine chest fer yer pirate pal! Maybe a book on his favorite pirate idol???
What a cute idea. My grandson's step grandma made them "treasure chests" for christmas last year. Little men always have treasures in need of safe keeping.
Oughta warm any pirate's heart.
Awww, that's so sweet. What a lucky little birthday boy.
Great idea! I'd love to hear what you write up. :)
