RJ's birthday is this Sunday and I wanted to get him something cool, something that he could use at the faire. He dresses up like a pirate, so I had a fairly good idea of what to make him.
I started with this plain wooden chest. A few hours of work later and I had...
A pirate treasure chest full of booty. The coins are wooden disks that I painted with silver and gold metallic paint. The jewels are just plastic beads that I got at the craft store.

Hopefully I'll type up a few pages of pirate-esque writing to add to the chest. What do you think? A log of ships robbed, a treasure map, of course, and a few pages of the Captain's log. Sound good?

Excellent! Colorful and glittery and oh-so-piratey.

A while ago, Domestic Overlord made a pirate chest-shaped birthday cake for her son. It was so cool!

What a cute idea. My grandson's step grandma made them "treasure chests" for christmas last year. Little men always have treasures in need of safe keeping.
